@methu124 I agree. Absolutely beautiful. Dominic Frontiere, Lalo Schifrin, John Williams, and Jerry Goldsmith composed some of the most awesome television theme music. They'll never be equaled much less surpassed. Now we don't even get television themes, just credits rolling during a show's dialogue. The end credits are even worse with a diminished screen within a screen so small that it's impossible to read the credits and you can't hear any music because of the load voiceover. Crazy!

@DoISmeLLikeWeed agreed!

PROBE was also the name of a parker stevens science fiction show in the 1980's

Wow! What a blast from the past - this was one of my favorite shows as a kid. Was such a shame to be so short lived! One of the best theme songs ever!

I watched the PROBE/SEARCH series back in the day and it was great! Thanks, mhinrichs, for uploading the video; I've watched it numerous times and am listening to the great theme music now. I also wound up ordering the DVD from Warner Brothers WBshop online today - $14.95 and free shipping!

Through those I dream of 1970s it was good old days dreaming work in high tech industry. Thank you very much. It's possible to live by this for several years.

Thank you for posting this. I got to watch this show when I was a kid and thought it was very cool them. I have had the theme song in my head for years and hummed it on those days when I was sad. Now as i hear it and see the video for it. All I can do is think happy thoughts of cool pieces of music where people really played music and my world was a much bigger place. Thank again for the posting. you are the best. !!!!!

"SEARCH" is something of a rarety, because its Technology depicted,is pretty much where we are at now-if not more advanced! this NBC series like many of them, had serious potential,,its just too bad that it failed! to have a former NASA astronaunt turn private eye,is very original-i give Leslie Stevens credit;for that one! but what i enjoyed the most, was the set,and the sound effects, most of which came from STAR TREK. reguardless, this was still a great TV series!
LENTICULARPLASTIC Says:
I liked this show...seems nobody mentions it today. Thank you for posting this, it brought back a lot of memories.
Chevstriss Says:
anyone remember, back in the day, a main critisism of the show was that this amount of surveillance technology was ridiculous, far fetched, magical? looking back it looks primitive.

@SolarisBreeze57 Frontiere was a master! His Outer Limits theme will always stay with me (referring to the first season - not the second, which was scored by someone else using a theremin. His themes, or rather, parts of them were played throughout the first season. ABC always used parts of "The Galaxy Being" and the second episode aired, which I think was called "100 Days of the Dragon." Parts of both of these scores were used to fill out 1st season episodes. Stunning music!!
macduff1ca Says:
@pacific707 good day speaking of the NBC mystery movies do remember the short lived Hec Ramsay with Richard Boone as a retired gunslinger who into forencists in the old west to solve crimes. Does anybody have the episodes if so please post. Thank you

So glad you posted this. The audio and video are fantastic, and it brings back such great memories for me. I was 18 when this show came out and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Until I watched the clip tonight, the last time I had seen anything relating to this show was when it went off the air in August 1973. With nearly 50,000 hits, maybe your post will convince some of the "powers that be" that it may be a good time to release a DVD of this show.
ablethevoice Says:
GREAT to the 12th power! Man, I also recall being glued to the TV (late hour or not) every week for this show. Kind of a blend of James Bond with Star Trek (at least the hi-techiness of Trek). I won't belabor NBC's stupidity in canceling the show as everyone else has already done it. With the fewness of episodes, I seriously doubt we fans will ever see a DVD release - but never say never, ya know? Thanks to you, mhenrichs for the memories!
Retrovision2011 Says:
@murasakiotto Too right. It's all 'Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson that' these days,
